Welcome to Mindfulness and guided Meditation classes at Moving Soma in Cheltenham Town Centre.
Classes are held on a Tuesday evening, doors will open from 6.15 pm where you can help your self to a drink, settle into a space and the class will begin at 6.30 pm.
Why Mindfulness Meditation?
Bringing mindful meditation into your life is a simple and effective way to help calm your mind, giving you the mind space you need to relax and restore your energy levels. By learning to train the mind to be present in the moment, you will find that you can accept your thoughts and emotions with a deeper understanding. This technique of dropping in with your self can have huge health benefits, making a big difference in your life.
Mindfulness meditation has been proven to improve mental and physical health, strengthen the mind, the ability to focus, and increase your positive thoughts and emotions, reducing stress and tension and to bring compassion within for ourselves and others.
Who am I?
I completed my training in mindfulness based interventions with Lynsey Wellington at Gloucestershire Mindfulness to become a Mindfulness Meditation practitioner. I have found mindfulness a huge support for my own challenges with anxiety, this gentle practice has helped me to settle my thoughts, focus on my breathe and it has given me a sense of feeling grounded.
I am a qualified Sound Therapist and Therapeutic Mentor, supporting young people and adults in Gloucestershire. I work from my private practice in Cheltenham and in the community. I also work part time for a charity called Infobuzz as a Community Development Mentor and as a Volunteer Counsellor supporting individuals and families with complex needs, loss and change.
How is the studio set up?
At Moving Soma we have mediation floor chairs that can be adjusted to suit your preferred position. There are some floor cushions and a few rugs. If you wish to use a chair that is off the ground, please let us know and we can arrange this for you.
The studio is a warm inviting environment, hosting an abundance of green large leafy plants, giving you the impression of nature being in the room with you. There is access to water and a selection of fruit teas, should you wish to have a drink before or after class.
Bi weekly classes are for 45 minutes of mediation and mindfulness. Cost is £35.00 for 5 classes or drop in/pay weekly for £8.00 per session using the online payment option or by reserving a space and paying in cash on the day.
